I’ve been doing a lot of mountain biking lately and I’ve been riding a 2004 Cannondale F4000 Hardtail for about three years now. The bike has been fantastic but it was time to upgrade to something a little newer. After creeping Craiglist daily for a couple months I was able to pick up this Giant Talon 2014 27.5 4.
Differences:
Bigger tires (26″ to 27.5″ and from 1.3″w to 2.2″w)
Hydraulic Brakes
Wider Handlebars
More Aggressive (downhill) Build
So far I’m super impressed with just how smooth the bike carries. It flies through the trails with much better braking and although it’s the same amount of travel in the front, the shocks seem much more responsive. The new bike technology that is coming out is just insane and quite expensive I might add but after a few trails under my belt I’m a firm believer in the 27.5 over the 26″ wheels.
Overall I couldn’t be happier with the upgrade (so far) and I’m looking forward to posted some mountain bike at Whitefish Mountain this summer! Thanks for reading!

P.S. Here’s the retired Cannondale F4000. I don’t think I will sell it. Never know when you might need a replacement or a bike for a buddy!

Nice looking bike. I like that 2014 version. Dude do you want to sale that bike? Just wondering, I looked for this bike when I purchased my first Windsor wellington 2, due to not finding giant talon in the market.

I still have it! But my buddy is riding it now though. I upgraded to a 2019 Santa Cruz Bronson. I should get some pics up!
